    GENaustin’s mission is to support and guide girls to make wise choices as they navigate the unique pressures of girlhood.

    clubGEN is an after school program for middle-school girls. clubGEN, girls are surrounded with positive role models they can relate to for connection, inspiration, and guidance. Weekly interactive, fun sessions incorporate a research-based curriculum designed exclusively for clubGEN. With support from their club leaders, peers and high school role models, clubGEN equips middle school girls with the skills and awareness they need to navigate the pressures of the teen years. Most of all, it’s fun! It’s free to all who wish to participate! It’s clubGEN!

    clubGEN’s activities center around four themes:
     Peer Relationships - Healthy Friendships, Social Skills, Bullying, Cyber Bullying
     Healthy Bodies - Body Image, Media Literacy, Substance Abuse, Stress Management
     Diversity - Race Relations, Cultural Awareness, Self Identity
     Future Success - Leadership, Goal Setting, Financial Literacy, Career Exploration

    Campus Coordinator Position Overview
    Each Campus Coordinator works up to 15 hours a week leading and coordinator clubGEN up to five middle and elementary school campuses. Campus Coordinators also oversee the adult and teen volunteers assigned to each clubGEN.
    Campus Coordinators also serve as GENaustin’s liaison to middle schools, handle logistics around recruiting members, keep records on clubGEN members, and maintain relationships with school personnel.¬ On occasion, Campus Coordinators will lead a daytime group when requested by a school.
    During clubGEN meetings, Campus Coordinators lead the girls through activities and discussions to help them develop critical thinking and communication skills. clubGEN provides a safe space for girls to talk about their lives and navigate the pre- and early-teen years.

    Requirements, Benefits and Checklist

    Position Requirements:
    • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of GENaustin
    • Commit to the position for the entire 2011-12 school year
    • Available to work Monday through Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
    • Available to meet on for a biweekly team planning meeting
    • Available to attend monthly trainings/planning meetings with high school volunteers
    • Must have (a valid driver’s license and) reliable transportation to the different school sites and meetings
    • Must be over the age of 18 and pass a criminal and background check
    • Must have regular access to email and phone for daily communication regarding clubGEN
    • Available for training dates in August 2011 (TBD)
