Smart Women/Smart Choices brought together successful women from around Austin to talk about
the choices they made and the effect of those choices on their future lives.
"I chose to hang out with the right group. I wanted to be with the smart kids, not the troublemakers."
Anita Mennucci, Executive Director of GENaustin and a consultant
"I found out all about the college I wanted to go to by myself. I applied and got in."
Cassandra Terry, computer specialist from Tivoli
"I was really involved in dancing, and that kept me out of trouble."
Jenny Bair, GENaustin Girls Groups Coordinator and a hosptial efficiency consultant
"I chose to go to college, even though I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Education is really, really important."
Madison, radio DJ
"I balance my work and school life by doing what I love, dance. I have a great outlet to express myself.
I'd go crazy if I didn't dance."
Pei-San Brown, GENaustin board member, doctoral student at UT Austin, consultant, actress/model
Some of the girls talked about what they might want to do in the future. Most of them wanted to be teachers
or someone who works with kids in another capacity. All of them were excited about becoming teenagers.
All of them have very bright futures ahead.
