Thursday, Nov 3: Building a Toolbox of Friendship Skills

Location: Trinity Episcopal School
Time: 12:00 p.m.
Audience: For girls

If relationships came with instructions, what would they be? If every girl had a toolbox to help her "fix" friendships in middle school, what would be in it? An experienced counselor, Shannon Huggins will teach girls how to use various tools to keep friendships strong, honest and healty through the preteen and teen years.

Thursday, Nov 4: 10 Things Dad Can Do to Support Strong, Smart, Savvy Daughters

Location: Canyon Vista Middle School
Time: 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Audience: For fathers and girls

Studies show that fathers have an enormous influence over their daughter's future success and happiness. Michael Hayes will facilitate a practical, from-the-heart discussion between fathers and daughters about what fathers can do to help their daughters grow up feeling confident, competent, and able to make successful choices in both work and relationships.

Wednesday, Nov 10: Yoga for Modern Girls

Location: Kealing Middle School
Time: 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Audience: For girls

Come get a taste of how yoga can help your mind, body and spirit. Learn basic yoga moves and how to incoporate relaxation techniques into your daily life. Understand your body in a way completely different from what fashion magazines tell you, and find out how to let go of stress at home and at school. Yoga is fun! Wear comfortable clothing. It's best to do yoga on an empty stomach; if you need to eat beforehand, eat lightly. Anita Stoll, LMSW-ACP, is a certified hatha yoga instructor, and Kelly Inselmann, LMSW-ACP, is a certified kundalini yoga instructor.

Wednesday, Nov 17: Relationships and Healthy Choices

Location: Redeemer Lutheran School
Time: 11:30 a.m - 12:30 p.m.
Audience: For girls

The focus of this program is helping 13-15 year old girls think through dating expectations, dating choices, relationships and intimacy. Karen Hampton, LMSW, is a local Austin therapist.
