Volunteer   >  GENaustin Office Volunteer Opportunities

The GENaustin office is located in Fulmore Middle School in the heart of SoCo (201 E. Mary Street). Working in the office is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in getting experience in all aspects of how GENaustin operates. The work is diversified, varying from day to day. Someone interested in an office volunteer/intern position is someone probably looking to see how GENaustin works in its entirety.

Office Volunteer: ( 2 - 5+ hours a week)

The role of an office volunteer can cover a large array of tasks. We do similar tasks as some of the actual committees listed here. Heres how you can contribute to GENaustin here in the office if you cannot fully commit to committee work:

  • Administration. Covers everything from filing, research, big mailers, upkeep of office inventory, mail pick-up, decorating the office and a list of other administrative tasks.
  • Recruitment. Recruit volunteers for GENaustin committees responsible for: Resource Development, clubGEN, Public Relations, Technology, Volunteers, the Speakers Series and the Web site.
  • Community Relations. Contacting, soliciting and thanking potential and existing donors.
  • Web help. Assist office administrator with communication regarding www.genaustin.org and the posting of the organizations newsletter.
  • Programs. Generate clubGEN activity ideas for 2004, assist in volunteer appreciation and retention and help promote other programs like oriGENal Voice and the Speaker Series.
  • Fundraising. Assist office administrator in planning, developing and implementation of future speaker events.
  • Research. Locating grants applicable to GENaustins mission and programs.
  • Public Relations. Write press releases, contact media, originate marketing strategies to encourage the propagation of GENaustin programs and functions while aiding in its expansion.

New York Times, Good Morning America, PBS, and Time Magazine for Kids have all featured GENaustin. This national recognition demonstrates the critical importance of our cause, both locally and nationally. Come join us as a volunteer as we further refine our model and prepare to launch outside of the central Texas area.

Please contact GENaustin, [email protected] or (512) 414-0472 to find out more about volunteering in the GENaustin office.
