Girls Empowerment Network Announces New Home

GENaustin Moves to the Ann Richards School

(AUSTIN) GENaustin, the Girls Empowerment Network of Austin, is proud to announce its office will move to the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders in the fall of 2007. This exciting change will allow GENautsin to join the new school in its mission to nurture female leaders and to prepare girls for success after high school.

The Ann Richards School is one of four public schools in the country for young women only. ARS curriculum will focus on academics, wellness, leadership, college preparation and careers. The school will open in August 2007 with a total of 230 6th and 7th graders. Young women from across the AISD school district have applied for the school, and qualified students will be selected through a lottery process. A new grade will be added to the school each year until 12th grade is added in 2012.

GENaustin has been committed to helping girls assume leadership roles for more than 10 years. The organization's girls-only after-school program, clubGEN, will serve the Ann Richards School and other AISD middle school campuses. From the new location at ARS, GENaustin will distinguish itself as a forerunner for girls' services in Austin.
