GENaustin expands to serve more AISD girls

## AUSTIN, TX (March 6, 2007) - GENaustin is expanding its clubGEN program to reach more Austin girls than ever before! Our goal is to reach up to 50% (4000) of AISD middle school girls. This means GENaustin could expand from 16 clubGENs to 200 clubGENs.

clubGEN is a weekly, research-based after-school program that employs high school girls to teach AISD middle school girls with support from adult sponsors. The purpose of clubGEN is to use critical thinking skills curriculum to decrease growing rates of pregnancy, eating disorders, and juvenile delinquency and increase academic performance among adolescent girls.

GENaustin will expand services on a campus-by-campus basis with the highest priorities being Fulmore, Ann Richards School, Pearce, Dobie and other schools at which clubGEN is already operating. As funding becomes available, GENaustin will continue to expand until it has reached all middle schools in AISD.
