(AUSTIN) On May 3, GENaustin will host its second annual fundraising event - the GENaustin Jive - at One World Theatre. Local band Skyrocket! (formerly the K-Tel Hit Machine) will perform solid-gold hits from the 70s. Guests are invited to boogie the night away and bid on items in the silent auction. The gala will include savory contemporary cuisine and a bar featuring our signature drink, the Lava Lamp Martini.

Proceeds from the event benefit GENaustin (Girls Empowerment Network), an Austin-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that empowers girls and equips them for success. The inaugural 2006 gala exceeded expectations and helped fund GENaustin's clubGEN, oriGENal voice, and Girl Talk programs.

"Thanks to volunteers and our fabulous sponsors, GENaustin's first gala, the JIVE, was a tremendous success last year. We raised nearly $100,000!" said Christie Horne, 2006 Jive Committee chair.. "We expect this year's gala to be even better with its groovy 70's theme, hip music, and the team of talented committee members who are working hard to pull it all together," she added.

GENaustin helps girls in AISD define their personal values, build confidence and make wise choices. The 2007 Jive will raise funds to help GENaustin impact more girls than ever before.

"GENaustin has been helping young girls and their families in the Austin area for 10 years now," said Celia Israel, Chair of GENaustin's Jive Committee. "We are proud of our positive history and how our programs have helped in a direct and substantive way. This event will be a fun way to celebrate that success and raise critically needed funds to keep our programs going."
