Staying Connected With Your Teen About Barb
 Staying Connected With Your Teen

We will start a Staying Connected with Your Teen pilot group this spring at the Ann Richards School for 20 parents in the evenings at the school.

The evidence-based Staying Connected with Your Teen parent curriculum's goal is to prevent problem behaviors among teens, such as substance abuse and violence, by helping parents acquire or improve a variety of key parenting skills and techniques.

Via six weekly workshops the program focuses on strengthening family bonds and establishing clear standards for behavior by helping parents more appropriately manage their teenager's behavior while encouraging their adolescents growth toward independence.

Barb is located in Austin, Texas and is available to conduct out of town presentations. She is able to customize a workshop to fit your specific needs.

Each workshop is scheduled based on demand. Schools, parents, and community members decide which workshop they are interested in and then work directly with Barb to set it up. The workshop will be scheduled at your convenience.

Barb Steinberg, a Licensed Master Social Worker, has been a presenter for over 8 years training schools and communities nationally and throughout Texas. Her workshop focus is educating and promoting the physical and mental health of our youth through workshops attended by youth and the adults who influence their lives.

Barb's professional background includes conducting individual, group, and family counseling. She has worked within outpatient and inpatient facilities, assisting people with numerous issues, such as depression, eating disorders, physical and sexual abuse, alcohol and drug abuse, anxiety and adjustment disorders, brain injury and other neuropsychiatric disorders. In addition, Barb has conducted support group facilitation within public schools, specializing in adolescent issues. Barb has owned her own corporation and developed curriculum to enhance the development of young girls' life skills.

Barb's personal experiences with adolescence as well as being a mother herself drives her to focus her energy and skills on the successful development of girls. It is her goal through her workshops to assist girls in realizing their immense talent and value to better equip them for the challenges of womanhood.
