The GENaustin web site team is responsible for the development and currency of the GENaustin web site – a key communications
vehicle for GENaustin within the community. Within this team, we have the following primary roles and responsibilities:
- Project Manager
- Information Architect/User Interface Designer
- Usability Specialist
- Web Developer
- Graphic Designer
- Back-end Web Development
- Tech Writer/Editor
Currently, we’re looking for additional team members skilled in the following:
- Web Developer (2 – 3 volunteers). Primarily responsible for the accuracy and currency of the site based on updates requests from the Board and web team.
- Information Architect/User Interface Designer (1 volunteer). Primarily responsible for creating the initial plans and models for the web site – including movement
through the site, and overall page design.
- Usability Specialist (1 volunteer). Primarily responsible for the overall usability of the site.
- Tech Writer/Editor (1 volunteer). Primarily responsible for the definition and implementation of technical writing standards across the web site.

Web Developer (2 – 3 volunteers needed) |

The Web Developer is expected to:
- Participate in the definition of web site design with other web team members.
- Implement additions and changes to the GENaustin public site and intranet based on requests from the Board and/or web team.
- Respond to site feedback.
Key Skills and Knowledge required for this position include:
- Several years of experience in the field.
- Domain expertise in web development (as opposed to software or product development).
- Implementation expertise in HTML coding, CSS/CSS2, Nested Table Structure, Web Accessibility, Cross Browser issues. ASP a plus.
- Experienced using Front Page 2000, Dreamweaver and/or Contribute, Photoshop or similar, Notepad/Homesite/Edit Plus or similar text editor. Illustrator a plus.
- Experienced with cross-disciplinary teams (including representation from business, development, design and usability roles).
- Demonstrates high attention to detail with good grammar skills.
- Works well with others on a team.
As a member of the web site committee, all team members are expected to:
- Actively engage & communicate with web team members & GENaustin Board members as appropriate. Includes monthly web team meeting.
- Be available 3 – 5 hours/week for web team activities.

Information Architect/User Interface Designer (1 volunteer needed) |

The Information Architect/User Interface Designer is expected to:
- Create plans and models for web site information architecture and user interface design based on end user needs.
- Create low-fidelity paper and clickable prototypes for reviews and usability testing.
- Participating in usability testing and research.
Key Skills and Knowledge required for this position include:
- Several years of information architecture and user interface design experience.
- Experienced using Visio to make site maps and page-level wireframes.
- Experienced with cross-disciplinary teams (including representation from business, development, design and usability roles).
- Familiar with design processes, including iterative design/development cycles.
- Works well with others on a team.
- Good creative and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Experience in applying usability principles.
- Basic html, css.
As a member of the web site committee, all team members are expected to:
- Actively engage & communicate with web team members & GENaustin Board members as appropriate. Includes monthly web team meeting.
- Be available 3 – 5 hours/week for web team activities.

Usability Specialist (1 volunteer needed) |

The Usability Specialist is expected to:
- Participate in conducting user research and creating design requirements.
- Conduct usability testing and reviews on development prototypes.
- Monitor website usability on ongoing basis, through site metrics, feedback, and proactive research and testing.
- End-user and ease-of-use advocacy.
- Respond to site feedback.
Key Skills and Knowledge required for this position include:
- Several years of experience in the field.
- Domain expertise in web development (as opposed to software or product development).
- Expertise in a variety of techniques such as user needs assessment, task analysis, competitive analysis, heuristic evaluation, scenario-based testing and surveys.
- Command of a broad range of HCI concepts.
- Experienced with cross-disciplinary teams (including representation from business, development, design and usability roles).
- Works well with others on a team.
As a member of the web site committee, all team members are expected to:
- Actively engage & communicate with web team members & GENaustin Board members as appropriate. Includes monthly web team meeting.
- Be available 3 – 5 hours/week for web team activities.

Technical Writer/Editor (1 volunteer needed) |

The Technical Writer/Editor is expected to:
- Edit web content submitted by non-professional writers for substance and style.
- Proofreading and copyediting.
- Establish and maintain technical writing standards across the web site.
- Contribute to development and application of web content submission guidelines by authors
Key Skills and Knowledge required for this position include:
- Several years of experience with technical writing and editing for web sites.
- Experienced with cross-disciplinary teams (including representation from business, development, design and usability roles).
- Command of usability issues in web writing.
- Experienced using content management systems.
- Works well with others on a team.
As a member of the web site committee, all team members are expected to:
- Actively engage & communicate with web team members & GENaustin Board members as appropriate. Includes monthly web team meeting.
- Be available 3 – 5 hours/week for web team activities.

This national recognition demonstrates the critical importance of our cause, both locally and nationally.
